Fed by the River Chittra, Manimutharu, Pachaiyar and Tamirabarani the waterfall cascades over 60m-92 m. Main Falls (Peraruvi), Small Falls (Chittaruvi), Chembakadevi (Shenbaga) Falls, Honey Falls (Thenaruvi), Five Falls (Aintharuvi), Tiger Falls (Puliaruvi), Old Coutrallam Falls (Pazhaya Courtallam), New Falls (Puthu Aruvi), Fruit Garden Falls or Orchard Falls (Pazhathotta Arvui) are the nine falls and each one offers a different experience in terms of volume and height.

Stock yourself with enough food, water and snacks as you may end up famished while going in pursuit of this beauty. The dolphin nose is one of the best points to watch this waterfall. You take the Mettupalayam road branching off at Aravenu and head straight to Catherine falls. Make sure the weather is calm and clear while you plan your visit. The best time is morning and noon and schedule your trip accordingly. The enchanting surrounding view of this waterfall makes it a mesmerizing spot to spend a day.

Undoubtedly, the main fall is the pick of the lot. It drops from a height of 60 metres and the water is believed to have healing powers. Irrespective of seasons, you find the water flowing freely here. A flight of steps from the main fall leads you to the small fall. Enjoy a shower and spend some leisurely time here. If you are game for an uphill trek, you reach the Shenbaga falls and you can also visit the Shenbagadevi temple nearby.

At a distance of 4 km from the main fall lies the honey falls. The enamouring view makes it the most appealing sight. You see water plummeting down from three sides. In case you have children with you, Tiger falls is the best place to be. Water spreads out in five directions at five falls. The odd falls is located at a distance of 10 km from the town. At a height of 200 feet, this is one of the least crowded falls.
